Silobreakers network view adds a new network to news. No, really.

By adding related stories in a graph (see image right) you can find related stories to your search in several axes, tweeking the networks associations by strengthening or weekening settings for Company, Organization, Person, City or Keyphrase.

The network gives you a new take on news reading. Take the keyphrase Pakistan. President Musharaf has recently (22 minutes ago) conceded defeat in the parliamentary elections, to the party of assassinated opposition leader Benazir Bhutto.

Conduct a search for ‘Pakistan [Country]‘.

Surge ‘Organisation’ up to 7, and the graph shows you high profile organisations involved in the current news picture related to the keyphrase.

Pop the ‘Company’ slider from 1 to 7, and you are shown relevant corporations in business in the region; Telenor, Motorola and others. But also other keyphrases, relevant to the context, such as Fraud, The Economy, Human Rights.

It may be a tedious way to read the news, but Silobreaker is definitely a wonderful research tool for drilling down into current events.
